50% to 90% Chance of Iranian War in 2 to 24 Months
Former White House Adviser Warns:
50%+ Chance of Iran War
in 2 to 24 Months
A former White House adviser, now a CNN political analyst, has told a group from the Jewish Federation of North America that there is a better than 50% to as much as a 90% chance that a conflict with Iran will take place in the next 2 to 24 months.
David Gergen, now with CNN, told an audience of 3,000 that while President Obama will focus primarily on domestic issues, events in the Middle East will likely slide out of control and force the president to deal with Iran. He said he assumes that Israeli PM Netanyahu will be re-elected and predicts a more strained relationship between the U.S. and Israel as a result of Netanyahu's retention of power. He also warned that Netanyahu must draw a line in the sand at the point where Iran could produce a nuclear weapon.
He also stated that for President Obama the line needs only to be drawn when Iran actually produces a nuclear weapon. He predicts these differences will trigger a crisis between the two nations. Gergen advised that to avoid such a crisis, America and the US must work to create ways to work together without further exacerbating their differences and develop new understandings.
