For Democratic Party Nomination
As First Black Presidential Candidate
For a Major Party

(AO Newswire) -- Senator Barack Obama of Illinois wrapped up his quest for a majority of Democratic Party delegates for the Presidential Nomination after the polls closed in the final primary contest of 2008.
Obama secured the majority of delegates when a flood of uncommitted super-delegates rushed to his cause putting him over the top and thus denying the nomination to Senator Hillary Clinton.
24 hours after the final primary, Hillary Clinton was still refusing to concede defeat, but her campaign staff did announce that Clinton would make a congratulatory speech to Obama on Friday, three days after the fact. For more details on this, LINK HERE.
Obama's staff announced the formation of a 3 person team to recommend a Vice Presidential running mate for Obama. Numerous politicians, including New York State legislators reported that Senator Clinton had admitted to them that she would like to be the Vice Presidential running mate. Obama campaigners and numerous media pundits believe that Obama is very unlikely to ask Clinton because of the negativity in the campaign and potential problems with her husband, former President Bill Clinton who seems to continue in his controversial ways.
Most political strategists believe that if Obama truly wants to cast himself as the "change" candidate, he needs to break completely free from the past and the "baggage" of the Clinton era, including numerous Clinton scandals. For those reasons, it does seem unlikely that Obama would select Clinton. \
