I've noted in a recent overview of the US Presidential nomination campaigns that some political insiders and media pundits alike have been using the "M" word as a reference to Barack Obama and the "messianic-like" fervor that seems to  permeate his campaign.

Until now, the comments I have seen have been brief verbal quips on TV and in private conversations, but WorldNetDaily has now posted an article about "messianic-like" comparisons. While there may be nothing to this, it should be a red-flag for prophecy watchers that signals a need for some monitoring. Why?

I know that the NWO crowd is looking for a "messiah" to lead the Illuminist movement to a "One-World" government. It may be that many of these Illuminists are indeed wondering of Obama might just be their man for the job. IF so, we might well see a groundswell develop at a later point along these lines. IF that happens, and I'm not stating that it will, then we can look back at late February as the moments when such a developmental recognition first manifested itself.

The WND article cites an internet blog, which cites prior references to Obama as a "messianic" figure including a German Magazine article published last summer and a Slate.com's tongue-in-cheek "Obama Messiah Watch" as a periodic figure. Yet, since those comments, the "M" word has really begun to taking on a new life of its own among pundits and political operatives in reference to the almost inexplicable fervor among Obama supporters. They note that such fervor seems to be taking on contagious qualities.

Whether this is really the case or not, remains to be seen, yet I think it merits further monitoring, though I'm not ready to attach the "antichrist" label to the man just yet. Obama, however does bear worth watching, as does another political newcomer to the international scene - French President Nicholas Sarkozy.
