Yellow Alert Update
12-10-12

Editor's Note: The A-O Report is in deep financial crisis mode again. We're staring at a shut down date of 12/10 for one bill due of $130 and another for $140. On 12-12-12 an absolutely critically due bill of $205. With two more due on 12/15 for $80 and $50.
Our donation amounts are way, way down - probably due to the Christmas holiday.
Given the fact that the Mideast is in the midst of a major crisis and more will develop (Iran, Hezbollah) in the coming 60 days, I hate to think that The A-O Report would not be around to provide coverage, prophetic insights.
If you are in a financial position to help out with a donation to keep us going, please, please do so. Just go to the Donations Page for directions about online donations via Paypal using credit/debit card as well as instructions for sending a check via US mail. See link below for donations page:

Syrian Rebels Accuse Assad
Of Using Chemical Weapons
Show Video "Proof"
Syrian rebels have released a video which they say shows victims of chemical attacks by Assad's Syrian Army. Will this be enough proof to prod President Obama to take military action? See LINK HERE.

Syrian Gov't Divided on Use of WMDs
Assad Will Not Be Giving Attack Orders
Instead, Iranians May Carry Out Orders
A Kuwait newspaper is reporting that the Syrian regime of President Assad is divided over the idea of using chemical weapons against its own citizens.
The Al-Seyassah Daily News cites sources from Iraq as saying that the Syrian President's inner circle is intensively debating the merits and demerits of using chemical weapons.
Some within the inner circle, mostly military officers, are pushing for such use as a last resort while those on the political side are opposed to the idea, citing international opposition to the idea.
The Kuwaiti newspaper article also stated that Iran had consulted with Russia and expressesd the idea that Iran cannot sit idly by their only primary ally fall into collapse. This may explain, in part, why Iranian leaders are pushing the Assad regime to use WMDs before its too late.

Russia Delivers Cruise Missiles To Syria
New Iskander Missiles Arrive in Tartus
A Counter-Threat to US Patriot Missiles
Even as Patriot air defense missile batteries were being sent to Turkey from Europe, a Russian warship carry Iskander cruise missiles arrived at the Syrian port city of Tartus according to news media reports.
Some military analysts believe there is no anti-missile defense system capable of downing Iskander missiles. If so, and if the reports are true, the arrival of Iskander missiles is a game-changer that could put the entire Western naval forces at risk of total destruction. It would also pose a threat to the destruction of Israel, as Israel's air defense systems would be seriously challenged.
This development should come as no surprise to Western leaders as Russia had warned of such a move several months ago should the West move towards intervention in Syria. However, on Monday, Russian President Putin met with Turkey's Prime Minister Erdogan and afterwards Putin seemed to indicate that Russia was backing away from its support for Assad.
One thing to keep in mind, is that the Iskander missiles can only be operated by Russian crews. Syrian forces are not qualified to operate the new cruise missiles. This means that only the Russians can launch the missiles. Assad will have no say in their operation. More than likely, the presence of the Iskanders is meant to keep Western forces from over-reacting to events in Syria.
The real question is how Russia will react should Assad use Sarin Gas. Russia has already warned Assad publicly against using any WMD weapons. Should Assad cross that line, the presence of the Iskanders may be a moot issue as Russia would be forced to stand aside by international opinion to allow an international, UN intervention to halt such illegal use of WMDs.
On the flip side, Assad's other ally, Iran, may come to Syria's defense should the West begin intervention even if Assad's forces uses Sarin Gas.
An Iranian Revolutionary Guard news publication has warned that Iran has 170 medium-range ballistic missiles targeted on Israeli cities and those missiles would be launched at Israel, should there be intervention against Syria's Assad regime by the West. Iran considers the attempt to topple Assad as a red line that would provoke Iranian intervention.
Iran has continued to supply Syria with weapons and ammunition shipments, primarily by air transport, but with rebels now controlling most, if not all Syrian air bases Iranian resupply by air is now closed. The Damascus airport is now too unsafe for use with fierce fighting reported around the airport and rebels now having shoulder-fired Stinger anti-aircraft missiles. Iran's only option, for now, in resupplying Syria is to ship via ocean freighters, which means longer transit times and difficulties in moving such supplies from the coast to Damascus.
