Syria Prepping for WMD Attack?
Mideast on High Alert
Obama Again Warns Assad of Consequences
Over the weekend, news emerged that Syrian troops were mixing 2 chemicals together to create Sarin gas, a nerve agent. We reported on it over the weekend and again to some extent on our A-O Report's Intelligence Digest just a couple of hours ago. Yet as we were posting the Digest, breaking news reports indicated new alarms were being raised in governments around the world, including at the White House, the Pentagon and State Department. In the Mideast, Israeli government conferred with the Jordanian government seeking permission to use Jordanian air space to launch airstrikes against Syrian WMD stockpiles. Jordan, in turn rejected the Israeli request. Turkey is asking for Patriot missile defense batteries from NATO for protection against Syrian ballistic missiles with WMD warheads.
Western intelligence services have observed Syrian troops mixing chemicals to create Sarin gas. There is no indication though as to what method of delivery would be used: missile warhead, aerial bomb or artillery shells.
As concerns began to mount in national capitals around the world, President Obama once again issued a warning to Assad that using chemical weapons was a red line with serious consequences that would require a U.S. response. See LINK HERE.
One analyst being interviewed on CNN concerning the situation noted that the next 24 to 48 hours are critical as to whether or not Assad will pursue an attack using Sarin Gas or other WMD combination. The A-O Report will monitor this developing story as needed and file updates as needed, so check back once or twice a day for updates.
