Refuses To Meet With Netanyahu!

In what amounts to a diplomatic slap-in-the-face, the White House has announced that the President will NOT be meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu later this month when the Prime Minister travels to the UN to address the General Assembly.

The White House announcement has raised eyebrows as the situation with Iran grows ever more dangerous and the Prime Minister had publicly announced an interest in meeting with President Obama while in America for two and a half days. It will be the first time that Netanyahu has not met with a president while attending the UN General Assembly's annual opening convocation.

Our A-O political sources report that this is but yet another in a string of subtle insults to the Israeli leader by the Obama White House. Sources report that this latest news only underscores the personal disdain of the President for the Prime Minister.

Within two hours of the White House announcement that President Obama would not meet with the Israeli Prime Minister while he visits America later this month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu angrily responded with 2 questions for the President.

It was the Prime Minister's way of making it quite clear to the world and the White House that Israel will not wait to strike Iran's nuclear weapons facilities.

Bibi Netanyahu angrily responded by saying:

“The world tells Israel, `Wait. There’s still time,’ And I say: `Wait for what? Wait until when?’ Those in the international community who refuse to put red lines before Iran don’t have a moral right to place a red light."

The Prime Minister went on to add:

“If Iran knows that there is no deadline, what will it do? Exactly what it’s doing. It’s continuing, without any interference, towards obtaining nuclear weapons capability and from there, nuclear bombs."

The angry response is the result of a constant campaign over the past 3 years by the Obama Administration to restrain Israel from attacking Iran's nuclear program just as it did thirty some years ago with a surprise air strike on a nearly completed Iraqi nuclear reactor and 5 years ago with a Syrian nuclear reactor.

Netanyahu's angry response to the White House also raises the prospects for an immediate Israeli military strike on Iran during the "new moon" phase set to begin this weekend, even though it also is the 2-day holiday period of Rosh Hashanah, Israel's New Year.

Rosh Hashanah will be followed by the High Holy Day of Yom Kippur at sundown on Sept. 25/26. Some analysts believe that Israel would not dare launch a military action during any of their high holy day feasts and would likely defer until the next new-moon window in mid-October.

We have a Washington source with well-placed connections to Jerusalem who believes that this incident has broken the camel's back or shall we say, Netanyahu's back in restraint and will now push hard within his war cabinet for a vote to launch military action. Our source believes that the only reason Israel won't attack Iran this month would be because there are simply not enough votes within the Israeli cabinet to legally approve and order such action. It is believed that the group is deadlocked in a tie with one vote in abstentia but leaning towards a military action.


Considering the Flip Side - Obama's New Headache


By refusing to meet with Netanyahu at the UN later this month, President Obama has risked losing the Jewish vote, particularly in the way he has handled this latest situation, deemed an insult by Israeli Jews. He also has collapsed some rather delicate diplomacy between the two nations and made it more likely that Israel would strike against Iran before the U.S. presidential elections. Obama's political team believes that any military action against Iran could cause the President to lose his re-election bid, especially if Iran counter-attacks by targeting U.S. assets in the Middle East or launching its sleeper cell terror groups now located inside the United States.

As we go to posting this, new developments are rushing on the newswirew. The latest is U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta telling Israel that there is still a year or more left before Iran has a functioning nuclear weapon.

Meanwhile, an AP Newswire story just broke citing a new UN nuclear watchdog report stating that Iran has moved further toward the ability to build a nuclear weapon. The UN agency says new information received in teh last month indicates Iran has advanced its work on calculating the destructive power of an atomic warhead through a series of computer models that it ran sometime within the past three years.

Because computer modeling work is normally accompanied by physical tests of the components that go into a nuclear weapons, it would also buttress IAEA fears outlined in detail in November that Tehran is advancing its weapons research on multiple fronts. This news not only refutes Defense Secretary Panetta's assertion, but it also will further prod the Israeal to militarily attack Iran sooner rather than later.

Indications of Impending War?

While there are various elements we're tracking this from an online discussion forum may tell us that war is imminent.  

"My brother and his family live in Jerusalem – he is a minister – and a former Navy SEAL – his office is close to one of Israel ‘s largest underground military bases.

He called me last night which is very unusual – usually it is email.

He called to tell me that he is sending his family back to the US immediately due to what he is seeing happen within the last week and what he is being told by his military contacts in both the Israel and US military.

He said he is seeing with his own eyes military movements the likes of which he has never seen in his 20+ years in Israel .

What he called a massive redeployment and protective tactics of forces is underway.

Over the last two days he has seen anti-aircraft missile deployments throughout the Jerusalem area including 3 mobile units that he can see from his office windows.

In addition, he has seen very large Israeli armored columns moving fast toward the Sinia where Egypt has now moved in Armor.

There are reports of the top military leaders meeting with Israel ‘s Sr. Rabi which is something that has happened preceding every prior military campaign.

His admonition is to watch carefully and pray for Israel and its people.

He is convinced that barring something extraordinary Israel will attack Iran – with or without the US – and very soon.

It is the belief in Israel that Obama does not stand with Israel but with the Arab countries.

He has told me before that Israel will saber rattle from time to time but that this time is very different from what he is seeing and hearing.

He was at the Wailing Wall 2 days ago and there were hundreds of IDF soldiers there. As he was leaving he passed at least 20 military buses full of soldiers in route to the wall.

He has never seen this before either.
