Retired Israeli Spy Chief Says:
"Israel Can't Afford NOT to Strike Iran"
Retired Israeli spy master, Lt. General Danny Yatom warns fellow Israelis that: ""As steep as the price for hitting Iran may be, a military strike on Iran will be less painful than the cost of living with an Iranian nuclear weapons threat. The backlash from a strike on Iran's nuclear sites will not be as bad for Israel as will an Iran armed with nuclear weapons. I don't think that those predicting apocalyptic repercussions of a strike on Tehran are correct, and even if they are, Israel can't afford to wonder if Tehran will go crazy and bomb us. Iran's Supreme Leader Takes Unusual Step
To Warn Iranians of 3 Possible War Scenarios
Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei has published an editorial outlining 3 possible war scenarios against his nation. The editorial is a tacit admission that with all the 'war talk' floating around the Middle East, Iran faces a potential military clash of varying degrees of intensity.
The purpose for warning Iranians of possible war is due in part to the regime's desire to avoid having the Iranian public shocked by a surprise attack from Israel or the USA. The regime fears that a surprise attack might create governance problems for the regime during a surprise attack. By outlining optimistic outcomes for such a war, the regime is trying to persuade the Iranians that the regime will certainly be victorious, so there is no reason to consider a revolt in the streets against the regime.
The darker understanding of the public warning by the Supreme Leader infers just the opposite. The war outcomes are not nearly as sunny and optimistic as the regime wants the public to think. Furthermore, the regime fears the potential for an uprising much like what is now ongoing in Syria. Putting it another way, the Iranian regime fears the Arab Spring revolts are infectious and will stretch into winter to consume Iran in revolution. Another potentially important implication of the Ayatollah's published remarks, suggests that the regime may soon announce it has become a nuclear weapons power in order to halt the saber rattling and sanctions since the point of stopping Iran from achieving nuclear power is a moot issue as Iran would already be a dangerous nuclear power willing to risk nuclear war to maintain its power.
