(A-O Newswire) -- As we’ve been reporting for the past several months, the fall of 2011 is shaping up to be the timing point for significant news developments with a bearing on Biblical Prophecy fulfillment. We are tracking 3 channels of major news developments that appear to have a significant bearing on Biblical Prophecies and their fulfillment.
Why Such Concern?
The Lord Jesus Christ told us in His “Olivet Discourse” (Matthew 24) an outline of events that will unfold just prior to His Second Coming. His remarks were primarily “headline” oriented and by no means comprehensive in details, but the intent was to inform and advise believers to be on the alert for these unfolding developments. He also told us to know and understand God’s prophecies as outlined in the scriptures. In fact, Jesus issued several “commands” to know and understand prophetic scriptures.
Also in the “Olivet Discourse,” Jesus told us to know and understand the “Parable of the Fig Tree.” This was a reference to the restoration of the nation of Israel at a point of time after Israel would be dispersed from its lands, which did happen in 70 A.D.
The lesson of the Parable of the Fig Tree is that when Israel was restored as a separate, independent nation (for the first time since Babylon conquered all of the “promised land,”) such a restoration would be the primary signal indicating that His Second Coming was near. In fact, Jesus tells us that the generation which witnesses the rebirth of Israel as an independent nation will not die out (“pass away”) until “all these things” are fulfilled. His remarks indicated that all of the “signs” preceding His Coming, as He had just outlined would transpire after Israel’s rebirth. So that, the generation which witnesses these signs, will not die out before His Return.
With that background in mind, we know that God’s prophetic time clock started ticking in the spring of 1948 when Israel was re-born as a nation. This means that the generation alive in May of 1948 will not die out until His Return. For this reason, we who are believers in His death and Resurrection for the remission of our sins, we are commanded by Christ’s words to always be “on the alert” or “watching” with eager expectation for His Return.
We who are believers in Christ at this time especially, need to know and understand the various aspects of the prophetic scriptures. We should ignore the advice of some church pastors who claim we should ignore and pay no attention to world developments in regard to prophecy. Such claims are in sharp disobedience to Christ’s own words, not to mention disobedience to the commands of the Apostles Paul and Peter.
As a result of these commands and knowledge of the prophetic scriptures we are therefore monitoring 3 key news developments in our world today.
These 3 unfolding developments are:
#1. Move for UN Recognition of a nation named Palestine.
The Palestinian plans for a vote in the UN to obtain recognition as a nation, which would remove part of Israel’s lands and return them to Gentile control, including at least a portion of Jerusalem. The Palestinians are planning to ask for such a vote on Friday, September 23. We’re not yet sure as to just what date such a vote will take place. We’re not sure if it will be on that day or a following day. It depends on exactly how the petition is put forward as there are options.
#2. The Rise of Turkey
The nation of Turkey has almost suddenly burst onto the scene in activity indicating a desire to become the leader of Islam in the Middle East. Turkey is showing all indications that it wishes to pre-empt Iran’s efforts to lead Islam in an effort to conquer the world for Islam. Towards that end, Turkey has now threatened WAR on Israel as well as on Cyprus and Greece.
In making such moves, Turkey is stepping into a role that seems to be a match with the prophecies of Ezekiel.
In Ezekiel, chapters 38 and 39, we read of a nation named “Magog” which leads a confederation nations in a war and invasion of Israel from “the North.” Prophecy commentators have debated for generations if not millennia as to the identity of this “Magog” nation as well the nations named as part of the confederation.
Until after World War 2, the primary consensus of opinion since the Reformation, was that Turkey was the Magog nation. After WW 2, an alternate identity emerged contending that the Soviet Union was the Magog nation. That idea morphed into becoming Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
A third possibility for the Magog nation, according to a small group of Rabbis is that Iran is the Magog nation, citing ancient rabbinical writings which indicated that Ezekiel made comments to his student underlings indicating that the people living in what is now present day eastern Iran, along with portions of Pakistan and Afghanistan would be the Magog nation.
With all of this in mind, we note that Ezekiel’s own scriptural names of tribes indicate Turkey to be the primary territory for the Magog status. This certainly indicates Turkey will play a critically important role, whether or not it is the Magog nation. So, with the latest belligerent activities by Turkey, we raise our levels of watchfulness looking for further emerging indications of fulfillment of the Magog prophecies.
#3. Potential Collapse of the European Union
Europe is expected to play a prominent role in prophetic fulfillment. The prophet Daniel describes a 10 nation confederation that forms from the ashes of the old Roman Empire. Some think it will be a revived Roman Empire. For many years after WW2, some prophecy commentators speculated that the European Common Market would be that 10 nation confederation, but that entity eventually grew to become the European Union with far more than merely 10 nations and it has members that were never part of the old Roman Empire. So the EU does not match or conform to the theory as being Daniel’s 10 nations (horns).
If the EU does not conform to the Daniel prophecy of 10 nations, then we should likely expect some sort of break up of the EU in order to witness a 10 nation confederation that is a revival of the old Roman Empire. Of course there are some who argue that the 10 nations do not have to be from the old Roman Empire, but rather loosely unite to form a power bloc and thus the theory is that perhaps an entity such as what is known as the G-10 might be what Daniel indicates. Unfortunately the current G-10 includes Russia and China, which makes the G-10 an unlikely group. However, we suspect that in the near future, perhaps from the ashes of a collapsed EU, we could see a new group of 10 nations emerge to become the fulfillment of Daniel’s 10 nations.
So, as Europe’s debt crisis continues to unfold and economic conditions continue to deteriorate, we await the possible development of a 10 nation group that may form from the European Union’s collapse. At the moment, news headlines point towards a strong likelihood of a collapse of the Euro currency and the European Union, perhaps within days, weeks or months ahead.
All three of these key developments are forming under an umbrella movement that is calling for and attempting to create a one-world, “global government” sometimes referred to as a “New World Order.” According to my conversations with an Illuminist more than 25 years ago, the plans called for a “global government” to form by the year 2012. The year 2012 was considered a “hard target date.” We’ve since learned that the year 2012 has all sorts of occult/astrological “magic” for which a global government needs to be in place.
Whether or not God permits this to unfold in that time frame remains to be seen, but we do know that in the book of Revelation, the Antichrist takes power forming a global government.
The collapse of the European Union will also likely pave the way for a global government, in which Daniel’s 10 horns elect the Antichrist to control them and that becomes the foundation base for the Antichrist’s attempts at global government.
What To Look For
Before the end of the month, we should know whether or not the UN gives official recognition to a nation called Palestine. It may well be that the U.S. vetoes the move. If so the repercussions could be enormous. Many regional experts and intelligence analysts fear some sort of violent outbreak by the Palestinians if their UN efforts are foiled by the United States and Israel. Such violence could also trigger an outbreak of war. That war might end up becoming the “Magog War” of Ezekiel’s prophecies, especially if Turkey follows up on its recent threats to attack Israeli warships in the Mediterranean Sea.
Watch & Pray
So now you know the situation as we see it. This situation mandates an increased awareness and watchfulness on the part of all of us who are believers in Christ. We should realize that there is a shortness of time and redouble our efforts to share the gospel of salvation with as many as possible who are receptive. We also need to redouble our prayers for those who are lost as well as for His swift Return.
