It's been dubbed as "the earthquake of the century."

Is it a Divine Warning of Things To Come?

(AO Newswire) -- A rare earthquake struck the eastern portions of the United States on Tuesday, August 22, startling not only the area but also the world. The earthquake registered 5.8 magnitude on the Richter scale and was centered about 80 miles south of Washington, D.C. in the state of Virginia. The quake was reportedly felt as far south as Georgia and as far north as Canada and as far west as Ohio.

Initial reports indicated no human injuries and little property damage but in follow up assessments, we learned that significant damage occurred near the epicenter in rural Virginia and some damage in the nation's capital. The Washington Monument suffered some structural damage to the top portion of the monument with cracks observed in some of the building blocks. The National Cathedral in Washington suffered more damage with three of its four spires suffering damage including partial collapse of the three spires. At least some homes and buildings in the region also suffered damage, including the Capitol building itself.

The quake struck at 1:51 pm on Tuesday, (8/22) and triggered widespread evacuations of buildings in the nation's capital, sending many federal government employees home early as buildings were inspected for damage and safety considerations. Reagan and Dulles airports were closed for a time to allow inspection for possible damage to runways, terminals and control towers.

The earthquake was also felt in significant st rength in New York City and other East Coast metropolitan regions. In New York, the quake initially triggered many fears that a terror attack had just occured. Tall buildings swayed for as much as a half a minute causing many to stampeded into the streets. New York's JFK airport was also closed for a time to allow for inspections to determine the safety of flight operations.

The 5.8 magnitude quake was a shock in more ways than merely physical. The eastern United States has been considered to be a stable geological zone that is not prone to strong earthquakes. This week's temblor was dubbed "the quake of the century" as a reflection of the rarity of earthquakes in the eastern portions of the United States. However, geologists report that there are a number of earthquake faults across the eastern seaboard of the USA, but the zone is considered to be relatively quiet.

Significance of this Earthquake

Scientists report that there is a 5 percent possibility that the earthquake was a foreshock of an even larger seismic event yet to come, but the greater likelihood is that this is an isolated seismic event that will be followed by a series of aftershocks in the coming weeks, months and years ahead. However, if our understanding of Biblical Prophecy is correct, and if indeed the United States is the Babylon empire of future prophecy in scripture, then the eastern United States will experience far greater earthquakes and seismic activity as we near the Tribulation period.

A Prophetic Warning of Things To Come?

In volume 2 of "America, The Babylon" you will find information pointing to a fiery judgment just prior to the Tribulation period that destroys Babylon America followed by a "mega" quake at the end of the Tribulation just before Christ 's Second Coming. This future mega-quake will level all of the mountain ranges of the world and all of the islands in the oceans will sink below the seas and Babylon will once again be brought into a second judgment in which Babylon-America will sink below the ocean waves never to rise again, according to the prophecies of Jeremiah 51.

If our interpretation is indeed true, then the continental USA will become a sea bed. As such, we would expect to see foreshock earthquakes along the east ern USA as a prelude to the prophesied "mega" quake which hits the earth just as Jesus Christ and His Church returns to Earth with Christ conquering the Satanic forces which had seized control of the planet. In view of the prophecies, we must conclude that this rare 5.8 quake is a warning to the Church in America that the end of the Gentile era is near and that the world is on the cusp of witnessing the fulfillment of Biblical Prophecies found in the book of Revelation and elsewhere in scripture, whether it is weeks, months or perhaps as much as 20 plus years yet into the future. Given other unfolding events in our world, we suspect we are much closer to fulfillment than most now realize. How so?

We have a geo-political earthquake in slow-motion taking place even now in the Middle East. Libya's war of revolution has nearly toppled dictator Gaddafi. Syria's revolution continues to unfold and with Egypt in turmoil and new rocket attacks into Israel by Palestinians, the whole region is poised for a major war that could well become the Magog War prophesied by Ezekiel.

We also have the entire global economy crumbling and poised for a collapse that would allow a "New World Order" to emerge, bringing about a globalist one-world government with a global dictator - matching Biblical Prophecy predictions of an Antichrist to come that will be a global dictator. All of this comes with increasing and unprecedented seismic activity in quakes and volcano eruptions. Also the Bible predicts a change in global climate and events unfolding in the heavens involving the sun and the moon. All of this correlates to the initial sign portending the return of Jesus Christ , namely the rebirth of Israel as a nation, prophesied by Jesus Christ in His Olivet Discourse of Matthew 24. In that discourse, Jesus tells us that the generation which witnesses the rebirth of Israel shall not pass away without also seeing His Return.

Israel was reborn in May of 1948. It remains yet to be seen as to what he meant in terms of years for a "generation" but we are now in the 63rd year of Israel's rebirth. If we calculate a 7 years of Tribulation, we come to the year 2018 as the 70th year of that generation born at the time of Israel's birth. Now it could be that a generation could be 80 or even 90 years, but whatever the number, the generation that witnesses Israel's rebirth will not die out before the Return of Jesus Christ.

With this is mind, we must obey Christ's commands given in His Olivet Discourse to know and understand the prophecies, to be on the alert and ready for His Return at any moment. Therefore, it behooves you the reader, to study, to learn and to know Bible Prophecy and to be alert, watchful and ready as well as remain in service and witnessing to others, sharing the good news gospel of salvation by a free gift given to those who believe that Christ died for our sins and that we can do nothing to 'earn' eternal life - it is simply a gift given to us if we accept/believe it and not try to be "good" to earn eternal life. See Ephesians 2:8-9.

Now is the time, we as Believers in Christ need to be knowledgeable, studying and watching and preparing for His Return.
