NEWSFLASH: Libyan Rebels Near Victory

Libyan Rebels Near Victory
Libyan rebels have now taken control of the Libyan capital, Tripoli and arrested Colonel Gaddafi’s 3 remaining sons. Gaddafi is nowhere to be found and rumors are flying that he has fled the country but there is no solid indication of the dictator’s whereabouts. Meanwhile, rebel leaders indicate that Gaddafi’s sons will be turned over to the international courts to stand trial for war crimes committed during the 5 month civil war.
These stunning developments followed an unexpectedly swift campaign to seize Tripoli aided by the apparently “melting away” of Gaddafi’s own forces. The Libyan Army apparently had had enough and recognized the futility of continuing the war. Earlier last week, key members of the Gaddafi government had fled the country seeking asylum in Tunisia.
Regional experts now believe that the end of Gaddafi’s reign of power is but a mere 24 to 48 hours away. It remains to be seen as to whether or not the rebels can bring peace or whether more bloodshed will develop from infighting as various tribes fight for power and control in a new government.
