Editor's Note: The Mideast is pre-occupied with revolt but focused mainly on Libya and Colonel Gaddafi's attempt to remain in power. Even so, the revolt movement appears to have swung eastward now to the Persian Gulf and Bahrain. For the moment Saudi Arabia has subdued protests in the Saudi Kingdom but the Kingdom's survival will hing on what happens in neighboring Bahrain as Iranian meddling is underway to trigger a revolt that Iranian leaders hopes will spread to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the other Sheikdoms in the Persian Gulf region.

Rebellion in Libya Near Collapse
Rebels Losing on the Battlefield
Libya's Ruler, Colonel Moammar Gaddafi has marshalled his forces in the past week in a counter-offensive to re-take control of rebel-held territories in what has developed into a civil war. Some of the Libyan Army's officers joined the rebellion in an effort to overthrow the government.
In the past week, Gaddafi's forces have rallied to retake key real estate and are battling for control of Libya's oil installations. The Libyan Air Force has been conducting devastating air strikes on rebel positions, sending rebel forces reeling from an offensive designed to take the capital city of Tripoli.
As the Libyan rebels stand on the brink of defeat, the Arab League passed a resolution asking the UN Security Council to delcare a "No-Fly" zone over Libya in an effort to quash the Libyan Air Force bombing campaign. Libyan rebels now say they welcome such a move for a "No-Fly" zone but remain adamant that no foreign troops should come to their aid. For more on the battlefield situation, LINK HERE.
