Iran announced today that its Bushehr nuclear power plant will not begin generating electricity in October as previously planned. Instead, the plant will not being operations until some time in 2011.
Iranian officials denied that the delay was due to the Stuxnet worm-virus that has plagued Iran's industrial computers as well as Bushehr Plant engineer's laptop computers. Leaders of Hamas and the Palestinian Authority are meeting in Egypt today to discuss ways to unify the Palestinian movement in an effort to establish an independent Palestinian nation from Israeli captured territory from the 1967 war.
Hamas and the Palestinnian Authority have been at odds for several years over how to establish nationhood. Hamas prefers war and the obliteration of Israel, while the PA has opted for more moderate approaches. In the wake of the recently failed peace talks, PA Chairman Abbas has turned to Hamas to discuss the possibility of unifying the two disparate groups. For Jerusalem
Roughly 100 million people worldwide are expected to pray Sunday for the peace of Jerusalem.
Organizers say 300,000 churches in 175 nations—including underground congregations in China and the Middle East—will participate in the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, which is considered the world's largest Israel-focused prayer event.
Eagles' Wings founder Robert Stearns, who is hosting the prayer day with Foursquare Church leader Jack Hayford, will lead a prayer event from the Tayelet Haas Promenade in Jerusalem. Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, Christian Broadcasting Network President Michael Little and Rabbi Shlomo Riskin of Efrat are scheduled to participate in the gathering, which will be broadcast on God TV.
