3 Rockets and Mortar Fire
Trigger IDF Air Strikes in Gaza
Three Kassam rockets struck Israel as the Jewish New Year of Rosh Hashanah came to a close on Thursday evening. There were no injuries or damage reported from the Palestinian rocket attacks.
Israeli warplanes were later dispatched to carry out airstrikes against Hamas' Headquarters in Gaza City as well as a smuggling tunnel and a terrorist training center in the middle of the Gaza Strip. YNET News reports 5 Palestinians were apparently injured in the retaliatory strikes.
The Israeli Army issued a public statement afterward stating: "The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to hurt Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers, and shall continue to operate decisively and powerfully against any element that utilizes terror against Israel. The IDF views terrorist group Hamas exclusively responsible for what goes on in the Gaza Strip."

Iranian exiles held a press conference in Washington and issues a report. The Mujahedin-e-Khalq, an Iranian opposition group provided extensive information to the mainstream news media at a press conference on Thursday claiming the site was an underground facility near the city of Abyek and believed to be involved in uranium enrichment.
The group claims that site has been operational since 2005. Opposition members aknowledged that they have handed their information over to the United States and to the International Atomic Energy Agency. In response, a U.S. official challenged the opposition group's claim that the facility was involved in uranium enrichment, but admitted that while the facility had been under intense observation by satellite, the U.S. had no direct knowledge of the facilities functions.
The opposition group, also known as the "MEK" reported that the facility was under Iranian military jurisdiction as a military base and is 85% completed. Even so, numerous Western experts downplayed the MEK allegations.
Last year, the MEK was the group to first publicly expose the existence of another secret Iranian nuclear facility inside a mountain complex near the holy city of Qom. The MEK intelligence proved to be highly accurate concerning that facility so there is at least a modicum of credibility with their latest report.
Former U.S. ambassador to the UN under the Bush Administration, John Bolton responded to the MEK allegations suggesting the group's allegations may very well be correct. Bolton underscored the fact that most experts admit to the possibility of other secret Iranian nuclear operations hidden by the Tehran government. Bolton noted that such a facility could have produced enough uranium from this newly announced facility to enable Iran to have a small arsenal of nuclear weapons ready to use.
It should be noted that earlier in the week, the UN's nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, reported that its inspectors were being kept from observing substantial nuclear activity that could be involved in illegal, nuclear activities, perhaps involving weaponization of uranium. The IAEA also admitted that Iran was producing enriched uranium at faster levels than previously thought and speculated that Iran has enough highly enriched uranium to make 3 atomic bombs.
