Could Become Cat 5 Storm Before Landfall
The eastern seaboard of the United States could be facing the brunt of a major hurricane this week. Hurricane Earl is now apparently headed on a course that would strike the outer banks of North Carolina. Computer models show that after touching the outer banks of North Carolina the storm would traverse over the Virginia coastline and rake Maryland and New Jersey before slamming into New York City and Long Island as well as continuing on to pound the Massachussetts and New England coastline before plowing into Canada's coastline and Nova Scotia.
Hurricane Earl is already battering islands in the Caribbean with Category 4 force winds of 135 miles per hour and monsoon rainfall. The storm's bearing remains WNW at 14 mph. Cape Hatteras now appears to be in the bulls-eye for some computer models, but the National Hurricane Center continues to note that it is still too early to be certain of the exact path of the storm.
A-O Report readers living along the eastern seaboard of America should start paying close attention to weather reports for the rest of this week and be prepared to take protective measures and evacuation if authorities and weather experts deem it advisable. Remember Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans. According to some hurricane experts, Earl could pose as dangerous a threat as Katrina for some areas depending on the storm's actual track.
For the rest of us, perhaps prayer would be in order for our fellow believers in Christ along the areas of the storm's path. A third LINK HERE from an independent storm forecaster with a remarkable track record for hurricane tracking predictions disputes National Hurricane Center Track and warns of a possible direct hit on North Carolina and Cape Hatteras before turning out to sea. Meanwhile, New York authorities make emergency storm preparations across the eastern coast, LINK HERE.
