Iran's Purchase of Russian
S-300 Air Defense System
The Russia's Interfax News Agency reports that a Russian military spokesman, Alexander Fornin announced that in response to the new UN sanctions, Russia would abide by the UN mandate and would not ship "large missile systems" to Iran. The announcement includes the S-300 Air Defense missile system which is thought be aviation experts to be the most formidable and effective, air defense system in the world.
Iran had ordered the S-300 air defense system from Russia back in 2007 but the Russians cited production delays as the reason for not fulfilling the order by now. The Russian government used the sale of the S-300 as a geo-political football to garner concessions from the United States on the installation of a missile shield in eastern Europe.
There had been growing concern that Israel might be compelled to attack Iranian nuclear facilities far sooner than otherwise, in order to strike before the S-300 systems could be delivered and made operational. With the sale now nullified, Israel may not feel such pressure to immediately take military action. For more on this story, LINK HERE.

Would Bust New UN Sanctions
Russia has agreed to bust the new energy sanctions placed against Iran for ints non-compliance with UN resolutions calling for the end to uranimum enrichment. A little more than two weeks ago, Russia President Medvedev privately committed to President Obama full Russian cooperation to halt Iran's nuclear weapons program. The Russian president admitted that Russia was now concerned that Iran's nuclear weapons program posed a threat to Russian national security.
The new new agreement between Russia and Iran will enable Iran to purchase refined petroleum products like gasoline, diesel fuel and industrial lubricants which were banned by the United States. The sale of Russian petroleum products would essentailly torpedo the effectiveness of the new sanctions and leave the U.S.looking not only foolish but epose the naivete of President Obama. The effects of the agreement erases any hope for diplomacy to halt Iran's quest for nulcear weapons. The Israelis are now faced with the choice of allowing Iran to become a nculear power or take swift military action, sooner rather than later against the wishes of the White House. The bottom line? The Middle East is moving to a "flash point' for war whether Obama likes it or not.

According to recently declassified government documents, former national security advisor and later Secretary of State to Richard Nixon, Henry Kissinger favored Arab causes over Israel, despite Kissinger's status as a Jew. Declassified documents reveal that at one time Kissinger counseled the Algerian Foreign Minister stating that a future war with Israel might be advantageous to the Arab cause.
