(A-O Newswire) -- Here is a special article written by Paul Noel, a computer software engineer contractor for the U.S. Army at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama.  While not an oil industry expert, his investigations and engineering background and oil industry connections provide a unique, non-partisan perspective on the Macondo Oil Well Rig explosion of April 20.

Paul has written two very insightful articles on the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster at the Macondo Oil Well. The first article appeared on May 2 entitled: "The Mother of all Gushers Could Kill Earth's Oceans." The second article is entitled: "A Volcano of Erupting Oil.:It was published on May 13. In the second article, Paul notes that this oil well could become as dangerous as an eruption of the Yellowstone Caldera in Yellowstone National Park. This assertion definietly caught our interest at The Alpha-Omega Report.

Mr Noel has noted that the oil well in the Gulf of Mexico is the first of its kind to penetrate a newly discovered oil field that is perhaps the largest oil deposit ever discovered and its true size is unknown but is thought to stretch for as much as 25,000 square miles, making it much larger than the oil fields of Saudi Arabia. Mr. Noel also notes that this oil field also contains vast quantities of natural gas and methane. Both gases are very flammable and dangerous. This entire field esists in or under extreme pressure unlike anything humanity has ever tapped into. This extreme pressure was likely underestimated by oil industry geologists and engineers and that super-pressure may well be why 6 fail-safe devices failed on this particular oil rig.

Another interesting observation made by the author is that this oil well is much like a fiery volcano that could erupt and emit large volumes of highly flammable gases that could be set off by lightning from thunderstorms and produce in theory unimagineable, explosive results if attempts to cap the well lead to mishaps.

There have been reports that the US government has considered the possibility of trying to cap the well by using a nuclear bomb. Mr. Noel believes that could well be catastrophic in Biblical Proportions. It could destroy the USA much like an eruption of the Yellowstone Caldera. In fact, if enough gas escaped to the surface air over the Gulf, in enough quantities and then was set off by a spark from lightning or a human source like a match of gasoline engine. the consequences again, could be unimagineable. While these are possibilities, it seems they are indeed extremely remote.

However, if we stop and think about this for a moment, consider the Gulf of Mexico and its petroleum resources as a potential means for God to use to destroy Babylon-America as noted in Revelation 18 and especially verse 21 plus of course also the descriptive accounts of Isaiah 13 as well as Jeremiah 50 and 51. We're not however claiming this petroleum situation in the Gulf of Mexico is the means by which such a prophecy will be fulfilled. We only note that it does have such potential, particularly if combined with an actual eruption of the Yellowstone Caldera - set off by - perhaps the same angelic team that conducted the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. There is also another aspect to this oil well blowout situation that calls to mind some key prophetic passages in the book of Revelation.

Revelation 8: 8-9

"And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed."

Revelation 16:3-4

"And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.

"And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood."

Now, please understand that in the original Greek text we find some slight differences than what you read in the KJV of Revelation 16:3-4. The KJV alludes to this with the word "as" - but probably the clearer understanding would be to say "like" - which is a metaphorical term indicating a metaphor is being used and not to be taken literally. In other words, the sea became something like that of the blood of a dead man. Now what does that metaphor attempt to describe?

In doing some research on the term and metaphor for the blood of a dead man, we find that Livor Mortis is the settling of blood after death. It is also called Hypostasis.

The decomposition of a body can be divided into several stages, even if the duration of each stage will vary a lot:

    * After 2-3 days: green staining begins on the right side of the abdomen. Body begins to swell.

    * After 3-4 days: staining spreads. Veins go "marbled" - a browny black discoloration

"Black" putrefaction: Flesh of creamy consistence with exposed parts black. Body collapses as gases escapes. Odour of decay very strong

We also find it interesting that blood can turn into a tar-like substance under certain conditions including death.

"Blood will typically look like tar after it has been exposed to the body's digestive juices"  such as after death or in severe illness.

This according to the National Institute of Health - US Government and their website page - LINK HERE 2nd paragraph.

Now, our point is that Revelation 16: 3-4 is describing the sea become like or something akin to blood of a deceased person. What does that mean? It means that like a dead person's blood which is left to its own devices and turn black and tar-like,  the sea will discolor to a blackish hue and become tar-like in substance. We could and probably should assume that this refers to the surface of the sea.

Let's examine Revelation 8:8

Here again the Greek text is indicating something "like" a great mountain of burning fire is cast into the sea. Now I've always thought that this verse was probably a reference to a meteor streaking in from outer space (not an asteroid) and impacting into the sea. However, in reading Paul Noel's article, I discovered that the oil rig invvolved in the operations at the Macondo oil well is huge and if someone like the disciple John were to witness something like the explosion and sinking of Deepwater Horizon, he might describe it as something like a huge mountain of burning fire being cast/thrown into the sea.

Now, please do not misunderstand our meaning here. We are not attempting to assert or claim that John is writing and describing the recent incident involving Deepwater Horizon and its demise. What we ARE trying to point out is that - perhaps - John's description is describing something similar. It is perhaps possible that John is describing the Horizon sinking with the later ramifications, perhaps a few years down the road when the remains of that oil well come uncorked and something happens from that incident unleashing an unstoppable oil leak that quickly emanates throughout the Gulf of Mexico and into the Atlantic flowing into the coastlines of Europe and eventually the Mediterranean Sea and along the coastline of Israel.

This might be a conceivable possibility and explanation for Revelation 8:8 as well as related somehow to Revelation 16:3-4. There are at least certain, eerily descriptive parallels between the passages of scripture here and the Deepwater Horizon explosion and sinking. Again, we're not trying to make any such claims for the incident being a prophetic fulfillment. It may however be a 'foreshadowing' of what is yet to come.

The US has said the success of a move by oil giant BP to curb a leak in the Gulf of Mexico is "not clear" and the technique provides "no solution".

It was responding to BP's move to siphon oil from the leaking well head to a tanker on the surface.

A government statement said it would not rest until the leak was permanently sealed and the spill cleaned up.

BP executive Kent Wells earlier said the siphoning process was "working extremely well".

This was the third attempt it had made to insert a long narrow tube into the leaking pipe, using underwater robots.

It is thought that BP's 6in-wide (15cm) tube and stopper could capture more than three-quarters of the leak, although a smaller spill nearby also has to be contained.

Mr Wells said on Sunday at the firm's US headquarters in Houston, Texas, that over the next few days the company planned to slowly increase the amount of oil and gas flowing through the pipe to the tanker.
