The US is preparing to pivot from domestic regulatory reform to a push for a tough new international capital regime after the weekend’s G20 and International Monetary Fund meetings glossed over differences between leading economies.

Tim Geithner, US Treasury secretary, met Mario Draghi, chairman of the Financial Stability Board, on Sunday to discuss the contours of a system that would decide the safety and profitability of banks for decades to come and could eclipse the arguments over bank taxes and regulation.

The G20 communiqué on Friday said: “We recommitted to developing by end-2010 internationally agreed rules to improve both the quantity and quality of bank capital and to discourage excessive leverage.”

But participants said little time was spent on the issue and that officials were gearing up for a battle at the June meeting over the direction of the new standards, which would prevent banks from relying on short-term funding and disqualify some assets from counting towards core regulatory capital, the highest-quality loss-absorbing part of the capital structure.

The United States Air Force's secretive X-37B robotic space plane blasted off from Florida late Thursday on a mystery mission shrouded in secrecy for the U.S. military.

The unmanned military Orbital Test Vehicle 1 (OTV-1) - also known as the X-37B - lifted off at 7:52 p.m. EDT (2352 GMT) atop an Atlas 5 rocket on a mission that is expected to take months testing new spacecraft technologies.

The X-37B is a reusable robotic space plane built by Boeing Phantom Works. Its mission is being carried out under the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office with participation by NASA.

Key objectives of the space plane's first flight include demonstration and validation of guidance, navigation and control systems - including a "do-it-itself" autonomous re-entry and landing at California's Vandenberg Air Force Base with neighboring Edwards Air Force Base as a backup.

The X-37B is the first vehicle since NASA's space shuttles with the ability to return experiments to Earth for further inspection and analysis, Air Force officials said. [X-37B spacecraft photos.]

"This is a new way for the Air Force to conduct on-orbit experiments," explained Gary Payton, Air Force deputy under secretary for space programs, during a Tuesday press teleconference.

The designed maximum on-orbit duration for the X-37B is 270 days, Payton said. "In all honesty, we don't know when it's coming back for sure. It depends on the progress that we make with the on-orbit demonstrations," he added.

"If these technologies on the vehicle prove to be as good as we currently estimate, it will make our access to space more responsive, perhaps cheaper, and push us in the vector of being able to react to warfighter needs more quickly," Payton concluded.

THE aliens are out there and Earth had better watch out, at least according to Stephen Hawking. He has suggested that extraterrestrials are almost certain to exist — but that instead of seeking them out, humanity should be doing all it that can to avoid any contact.

The suggestions come in a new documentary series in which Hawking, one of the world’s leading scientists, will set out his latest thinking on some of the universe’s greatest mysteries.

A good friend of mine, Stan Deyo has come out with a new book, warning us as to how the Antichrist may try to deceive the world about the Rapture AND The Second Coming of Christ. His answer hypothesizes that they'll blame it on "evil aliens" as an excuse to unite the world. Stan knows something about UFOs. As a physicist, he was contracted to work with Dr. Edward Teller and the original fathers of the atom bomb as part of a "black-project" as in super, "above-top-secret" project involving an anti-gravity engine that could be swapped out with a propulsion device from captures "UFOs."

NOW, last week, a reader wrote in criticizing me for posting a link to a video which showed an unidentified flying object over the erupting Iceland volcano. This reader scolded me for getting into the "woo-woo" subject of UFOs. Stan Deyo's new book explains why Christians had better get over the "Woo-Woo" fear of the subject and begin to understand that this is a Satanic ploy to deceive the whole world and join the Satanic cause in opposing the Lord Jesus Christ. Now whether or not the object in the volcano video was of an "angelic nature" or some sort of natural phenomenon ( I don't believe it was a flock of birds ) we merely pointed out that it was "unidentified" and that no known man-made object could fly into such a cauldron. I should have added that I don't think it was merely a lighting phenomenon nor was it a problem of optics or an optical illusion. Here is a free, nearly a two hour presentation on current prophetic events connecting with the hypothesis that maybe, just maybe the Tribulation is about to start in 2010 and perhaps the Rapture might happen on the Feast of Pentecost coming up in May.

I have always stated that I believe our Lord Jesus Christ might return on one of the Jewish Feasts such as Pentecost or Rosh Hashanah, which is another Feast that many hypothesize might be the Feast of His Return. It's possible that both theories may be correct for His Coming.

At any rate, I am not proposing to set a date, as I do believe He can Return whenever the Father deems it appropriate be it any of 365 days in a year. Even so, I find this video interesting enough to commend it to you for watching. It can better explain the Pentecost hypothesis better than I can write about it, plus - it underscores further why I suspect that either 2010 or 2011 may be when the Tribulation begins. Monte Judah does a wonderful job of explaining some of what I've written about in our weekly A-O Intelligence Digests about the Obama White House strategy and plans for dealing with Israel and how it links perfectly into Daniel's prophecies about the "confirming" covenant and what kind of covenant that might be.
