An Egyptian newspaper reports that Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other unnamed nations have rejected a proposal for the League to have conduct talks with Iran. The League is also levelled harsh criticism against Iraq's president for visiting Tehran instead of attending the Arab League's Summit meeting.
The Arab League remains somewhat divided as only 13 of 22 members are attending the annual weekend summit, being held this year in Libya. In their final summation, the Arabs rejected any Israeli efforts to make Jerusalem exclusively Jewish. For more on the Summit. LINK HERE. Wrap up details, LINK HERE.

Arab leaders attending the Arab League Summit ponder what should be done concerning the Israeli-Palestinian problem as peace talks appear to be a forlorn hope. Palestianian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas told the Summit that prospects for peace talks were dismal. Abbas stated that unless Israel agreed to reverse its position and adopt settlement freezes, no peace talks would be possible.
Arab leaders had worked hard for the past several years trying to forge some sort of basis for renewed peace talks that could provide a satisfactory settlement between Israel and the Palestinians. For more on the the League's options for peace, read a New York Times analsysis - LINK HERE.
