Iranian Basij militiamen have reportedly attacked different embassies in Tehran. Italy claims its embassy was attacked. There are reports that the French embassy was also attacked but there are disputed reports concerning attacks on the Dutch embassy.
The militiamen's activities were sanctioned by the government in an effort to whip up anti-international sentiment among the Iranians in advance of Thursday's Islamic Revolution anniversary. On Thursday, political dissidents had planned to march as many as 3 million protestors into the streets of cities all around the nation. The Iranian regime is attempt to circumvent that into an anti-world fever-pitch and if that fails to halt the political dissidents, then they'll find a justification for a brutal crackdown to take effect.
