US Strategic Grain Reserves
Some disturbing reports have begun to emerge suggesting that America's stockpiles of grain reserves are being sold out to foreign buyers, leaving the United States with little or no grain in reserve.
Some farmers are wondering if the US Department of Agriculture reports on crops are being deliberately falsified to conceal grain reserve shortages. For more on this story, LINK HERE. FLASHBACK Last Week - LINK

Lowest Acreage Since 1913
The 2010 US Wheat crop has been pegged to have covered only 37.1 million acres or 14 percent less than less year. It is the lowest number of acres of planted wheat since 1913.
The USDA cites poor weather, low prices and the late, row crop harvest as reasons for the decrease in the amount of wheat being planted by U.S. farmers.
Kansas, the nation's largest producer of winter wheat, planted 8.6 million acres, down 8 percent from last year and the lowest planted acreage in the state of Kansas since 1957.
The report would seem to foreshadow potential shortfalls in the 2010 wheat harvest even as world demand is rising, suggesting the real possibility of food shortages in the future.

The minute hand of the infamous Doomsday Clock was moved backwards by one minute this past week for the first time in two years. The clock was invented to convey how close humanity is to catastrophic destruction, which is represented by midnight. It was created by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists in 1947, two years after the U.S dropped the first atomic bombs on Japan in World War II. It was originally set at seven minutes to midnight. The clock has been altered 18 times since then by the Bulletin's scientific board. This now includes Professor Stephen Hawking and 18 other Nobel laureates. The latest recorded time was two minutes to midnight in 1953 as the Cold War heated up between the U.S and Soviet Union. In 2007 it was wound on to five minutes to midnight, to reflect the failure to solve problems posed by nuclear weapons. UFO, Meteor or Space Junk?
An object believed to be 50 feet or less in size missed striking the earth by about 80,000 miles in a close encounter on Wednesday of last week. The object was named "2010 AL30."
Astronomers in the western USA could view the object with a good telescope and saw it as a bright, shiny object about the size of the planet Pluto.
Scientists have estimated that the object has an orbit of nearly a year and there is speculation that it might be a discarded rocket booster. Other scientists discount that possibility noting the trajectory appears to be something of a more natural variety and not that of space junk. For more details, LINK HERE. For Photos LINK HERE.
