Editor's Note: Our News Round Ups do not cover ordinary news stories. We focus on news stories with a Biblically prophetic development indication. In a normal week's news, we generally have had a dozen and often times three or four dozen news stories to report. In the past 10 days however, there has been a decided lack of significantly prophetic news to report and this edition of coverage reflects that. We even delayed posting this edition by one day, hoping to pick up more stories but to no avail. I think the primary reason for a lack of significant developments relates directly to the holidays and perhaps two major blizzards that affected much of the USA. We may see a continuation of this 'dry spell' until after the New Year, before news events begin to see more significant prophetic developments.

A new global body dedicated to environmental stewardship is needed to prevent a repeat of the deadlock which undermined the Copenhagen climate change summit, Gordon Brown will say tomorrow.

The UN’s consensual method of negotiation, which requires all 192 countries to reach agreement, needs to be reformed to ensure that the will of the majority prevails, he feels.

The Prime Minister will say: “Never again should we face the deadlock that threatened to pull down those talks. Never again should we let a global deal to move towards a greener future be held to ransom by only a handful of countries. One of the frustrations for me was the lack of a global body with the sole responsibility for environmental stewardship.

“I believe that in 2010 we will need to look at reforming our international institutions to meet the common challenges we face as a global community.” The summit failed to produce a political agreement among all the countries. Delegates instead passed a motion on Saturday “taking note” of an accord drawn up the night before by five countries: the US, China, India, Brazil and South Africa.

A Northwest Airliner enroute from Europe to Detroit, Michigan on Christmas day was attacked by a terrorist with a suicide bomb that failed to function properly. The terrorist's effort was foiled by alert passengers who subdued the man after he attempted to ignite a bomb that failed to properly detonate. The man accused of trying to ignite a bomb was alleged to be an Al Qaeda operative from Nigeria with ties to Yemen. Interestingly, the accused man's father is a banker in Nigeria who attempted to alert authorities to his son's radical ties but his efforts were largely ignored by US authorities.

The incident has prompted more stringent security screening measures around the world as counter-terrorism authorities are concerned that Al Qaeda has planned similar, future attacks. For more details on this story, LINK HERE.
