Negotiations with Iran At
Dead-End
The head of the U.N. nuclear agency says his probe into allegations that Iran has tried to make nuclear weapons has reached a "dead end" because Tehran is not cooperating.
Mohamed ElBaradei says there has been no movement by Iran for some time on issues of concern about its nuclear program. He also says he is disappointed that Iran has not agreed to a U.N.-backed proposal under which Tehran would send its uranium abroad for further enrichment.
ElBaradei made his comments Thursday in Vienna to the governing board of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
One day earlier, the outgoing IAEA chief rejected Iran's demand for changes to the uranium enrichment deal. He said Tehran's call for a simultaneous exchange of uranium for reactor fuel on Iranian soil is not an option.
He said shipping uranium out of Iran is key to defusing international concerns that Iran is developing nuclear weapons. For more details, LINK HERE.

Iran students staged government-approved demonstrations outside the embassies of Saudi Arabia and Yemen protesting against military action by both nations against Shiite minority Houthis tribesmen in northern Yemen. The protests overlook the fact that the Houthis have been waging a civil war to overthrow the government of Yemen. Yemen in turn claims Iran is supporting the rebel forces with money, weapons and supplies.
The fact atht demonstrations are taking place in Iran suggests that the potentail for widening hostilities is growing. For more details on this story, LINK HERE.

Iran Threat Very Real
Russian President Dimitry Medvedev on Thursday told a visiting delegation from the European Jewish Congress that the Iranian threat is very real, as are the threats posed by North Korea and Pakistan, and should be treated seriously.
Medvedev and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also discussed the possibility of sanctions with the delegation.
Medvedev declared that Iran has to be more transparent and warned that Russia would take a tougher stance on Iran's controversial nuclear program if Iran does not comply. However, Medvedev added that dialogue must continue in order not to push the Iranians into a corner, and stressed that a military action would lead to catastrophe.
