EU's Solana Advices UN
To Accept Palestinian State
Even If Israel Doesn't
On Saturday, July 11, The European Union's foreign policy chief, Javier Solana advised the UN to accept a Palestinian state even if Israel fails to recognize it's statehood.
Solana's comments came at a lecture in London, where Solana advised the UN to set a "fixed deadline" and then proclaim the adoption of a two-state soluiton which would include issues such as border parameters, refugees, control over the city of Jerusalem and security issues.
Under Solana's plan, a Palestinian state would be given full membership into the UN. Solana's plan would also have the UN finalize all remaining territorial disputes between Israel and her other neghbors including Syria, Lebanon and Egypt. For more details, LINK HERE.

Cyber Attacks Hit USA & S. Korea
It appears that North Korea has launched cyber-attacks against 35 government and commercial websites in the U.S. and South Korea during the first part of July.
The attacks against US website were focused primarily on government websites like the Defense Department, Homeland Security, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Federal Trade Commssion as well as some media websites, such as the Washington Post.
South Korean's primary spy agency, The National Intelligence Service issued a statement that did not directly accuse North Korea, but noted the attacks were carried out "at the level of a certain organization or state." Another South Korean news agency, Yonhap, reported that South Korean intelligence analysts believed that North Korea or individual sympathizers were primary suspects for the attacks. Chip ID's Raise Privacy Concerns
RFID chips in identification cards are already at risk from hackers looking to either snoop or steal personal identities. US passports with the RFID chip technology are now proving to be vulnerable.
An investigative article by Associated Press reveals the potential nightmare for personal identity security with the advent of RFID chip technology now required on US Passports. Some states are now using preparing to implement RFID driver's licenses sometimes referred to as "enhanced" drivers licenses. Washington, Vermont, Michigan and New York have begun the switchover to such licenses. Texas and Arizona have agreed to begin the program and the Department of Homeland Security has lobbied hard with Florida and Kansas officials to adopt the new system.
The new RFID "enhanced licenses" are not yet in wide use with only 192,000 having been issued in Washington, Vermont, New York and Michigan, but DHS is pushing hard to make the program mandatory across the nation even though hackers can read the chips on passports from a distance as far away as 30 feet and enhanced driver's licenses from a distance as far as 10 to 30 feet.
To resolve the problem of identity theft, future cards will likely contain biometric technology such as facial recognition to halt forgery. Read more details - LINK HERE.

Mystery Tremors Reported
Along San Andreas Fault
Suggests Big Quake?
Scientists are reporting that a portion of the San Andreas fault has been undergoing mysterious tremors that are very deep underground.
The scientists are not quite sure what to make of the movements but wonder if a quake similar to the 7.8 mag quake of 1857 might be developing.
The tremors have been detected by a scientific team that began extended monitoring of the fault section back in 2001. The fault began experiencing the mystery tremors before a 6.5 mag quake struck in 2003 and another 6.0 mag quake in 2004.
What concerns scientists the most is that the tremors are continuing now at double the rate of frequency experienced before the 2003 quake. This suggests the possibility that a major quake is in the works.
Scientists note that these tremors are not normal for the fault line. Such tremors are only found along the continental plates subduction zones and not along regular fault lines. Scientists simply do not quite know what to make of the situation.

Russian Prez Calls For
International Money Currency
Shows Sample Coin.
At the G-8 Summit, Russia's President Medvedev called for a new "supranational" monetary currency to replace the US dollar as a world currency. He dramatized his call for such a measure by pulling a coin from his pocket that was a possibly proto-type coin for such a venture.
The coin is merely a test coin bearing the phrase "unity in diversity." It was minted in Belgium as a test-coin proto-type for a possible 1-world global currency. Both China and Russia are now pushing for a new one-world currency and have begun to lobby hard for such a change. For more on this story, LINK HERE.

Senate Halts Obama's Climate Bill
The Senate last week halted President Obama's Climate Change legislation temporarily and postponed any action until September to allow more time to write a comprehensive Senate draft version.
The move comes as opposition mounts against what is seen as a giant tax hike that would crush many small businesses and trigger higher unemployment, while at the same time making American companies less competitive with their overseas competitors.
Originally, the President had insisted that the legislation not be delayed and wanted passage before the end of July. The House had already passed a version that was very open-ended, giving the White House great latitude in implementation. That bill passed the House but triggered growing opposition in the Senate, in part because it is perceived as creating an economic disaster within the U.S. economy and triggering additional Federal deficits.

Feds Prep For Massive
Bank Failures Later This Year
A leading economist warns that the FDIC is gearing up for a massive takeover of banks in the United States. Mark Dotzour, chief economist and director of research for the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University warns that the Feds will close down a large numcer of banks later this year but can't do it yet because they simply do not have enough staff on hand to accomplish the task.
Dotzour expects the Feds will establish a special agency, similar to the "Resolution Trust Corp" that took out the Savings & Loan companies back in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The economist noted that "once they start to sell [foreclosed real estate] we'll find out what the market really is."
Dotzour noted that commercial real estate transactions have collapsed thanks to federal intervention that has scared bankers into not making many loans. He is predicting that inflation and interest rates will begin to rise next year and into 2011. For more on his comments, LINK HERE.
