Israeli PM Calls For
"Limited" Palestinian State
Israel's conservative Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu announced Sunday (6-14) his support for a "limited" Palestinian state that would be disarmed. It is the first time the conservative leader has publicly stated his approval for a Palestinian nation to share geography in the Holy Land.
The Prime Minister's announcement came as part of a major address to the Israeli people that in reality was a response to President Obama's speech in Cairo on June 4. In making the announcement, Netanyahu added strict conditions relating to a demilitarized statehood and Palestinian recognition of Israel's right to existence. The Prime Minister also stated that the Palestinian refugee problem for the "right of return" was not Israel's problem and would have to be dealt with by a future Palestinian state to absorb displaced refugees.

Iran's Prez Wins Re-Election
Iranian President Mahmound Ahmadinejad appears to have won a landslide victory in Iran's Presidential election. The election drew a record number of voters to the polls in Iran and voting booths were ordered to remain open an extra 4 hours in order to accomodate the massive turnout.
Iranian election officials reported that the incumbent president had garnered 65% of the vote. His closest competitor Mir Housssein Moussavi collected just 32% of the vote with two other candidates splitting the remaining 2% of the voting.
President Ahmadinejad had campaigned on the "messianic" platform of needing to be re-elected in order to carry out his assigned mission of making Iran a nuclear power and establishing a Persian military empire that would culminate in setting the stage for the arrival of the Islamic 'messiah,' the Mahdi. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appears to have won a resounding victory in Iran's presidential election but his primary opponent, Mir Houssein Mousavi declared himself the winner of Friday's election despite official counts showing him garnering only 32% of the vote. Mousavi's victory claims suggest the candidate may challenge the election results. Even before voting began, the Mousavi campaign warned that the President's campaign had rigged the election results in massive vote fraud.
Should the challenger pursue such charges, many political analysts fear the nation could be torn asunder in a backlash of violent behavior. The key issue may be whether or not Mousavi's supporters, who thronged Tehran's streets prior to the election, react violently to reports of election fraud. There had been pre-election clashes in the streets. Tehran police report that security has been boosted all around the city to prevent any violent outbursts. Already, police broke up a crowd of several hundred Mousavi supporters in a Tehran square.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards had announced they would not tolerate any revolt by Mousavi's supporters, either legally or illegally. For more details on the election aftermath, LINK HERE.
Post-Election Violence Breaks Out
In the wake of Iran's presidential elections which declared President Ahmadinejad the victor, opposition protestors took to the streets of Iran where some protests turned violent. There are reports of at least 100 arrests of members of Iranian reformist groups accused of orchestrating violence.
Backers of defeated reformist Mir Hossein Mousavi were rounded up overnight, reports said, including the brother of ex-President Khatami.
Mr Mousavi's whereabouts are unknown but he is thought to remain free.
Crowds took to the streets of Tehran on Saturday to protest against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's re-election.
There were clashes between protesters and police in Tehran, despite calls from Mr Mousavi to avoid violence.
He has refused to accept the election result, calling it a "dangerous charade" and alleging wide-scale irregularities.

Super-Volcano Brewing
Underneath Mount St Helens?
IS A supervolcano brewing beneath Mount St Helens? Peering under the volcano has revealed what may be an extraordinarily large zone of semi-molten rock, which would be capable of feeding a giant eruption.
Magma can be detected with a technique called magnetotellurics, which builds up a picture of what lies underground by measuring fluctuations in electric and magnetic fields at the surface. The fields fluctuate in response to electric currents travelling below the surface, induced by lightning storms and other phenomena. The currents are stronger when magma is present, since it is a better conductor than solid rock.
Graham Hill of GNS Science, an earth and nuclear science institute in Wellington, New Zealand, led a team that set up magnetotelluric sensors around Mount St Helens in Washington state, which erupted with force in 1980. The measurements revealed a column of conductive material that extends downward from the volcano. About 15 kilometres below the surface, the relatively narrow column appears to connect to a much bigger zone of conductive material.
If the structure beneath the three volcanoes is indeed a vast bubble of partially molten rock, it would be comparable in size to the biggest magma chambers ever discovered, such as the one below Yellowstone National Park.
Could Mount St Helens erupt like this? "A really big, big eruption is possible if it is one of those big systems like Yellowstone," Hill says. "I don't think it will be tomorrow, but I couldn't try to predict when it would happen."

A US Congressman reports that during a congressional delegation visit to China, the Chinese leaders repeatedly spoke of their concerns about soaring US deficits and the plunging value of the dollar.
"We heard across the board -- in private -- substantial, continuing and rising concern," Representative Mark Kirk said after a trip to China that included talks with government officials and central bank chief Zhou Xiaochuan. US Treasury Rates Jump
Interest rates surged this past week to well over 4% amid concerns about the US economy and the potential need for the US Treasury to have to offer more debt securities after last month's auction of 30 year T-bonds went badly. The yield on 30 Year T-Bonds was up 6o 4.81 per cent early on Thursday up from the 4.50 level a week earlier. The Obama Administration is preparing to recommend new legislation that would seek to limit the amount of compensation that could be paid to top executives of any corporation that offers up stocks for sale to the general public.
Such a proposal might well spell political doom for President Obama and the Democratic Party, especially if the legislation also limits the pay of top labor union executives. Such moves would likely create staunch political enemies for the Democrats and Obama that would lead to a collapse in large, political contributions for future elections. It might also fuel a collapse from millionaire, public celebrities who could also find themselves affected by such laws that could also substantially limit their earnings capabilities.
At the moment, the GOP remains rather muted on the idea, no doubt holding their breath at the potential, political suicide of such a proposal, preferring to hold their fire waiting for the actual proposal to hit the congressional floors with full details. Smart GOP leaders would rather hold their fire, in hopes the radical left-wing Democrats would write such extremist elements as to alienate the entire Democratic Party, once and for all, from the mainstream public. Combined with a National, Mandatory Health Bill, the Democratic Party could find themselves pulling off the equivalent of a political suicide by a shotgun blast in their mouth.

Under New Fed Cyber-Command
The Obama Administration's new national defense cyber-command operated by the Pentagon may not only be established to protect the nation's cyber-structure but it may prove problematic for protecting individual privacy.
According to a New York Times published report, Senior Pentagon and military officials say that the President's assurances of personal privacy and civil liberties may be challenging to guarantee in practice as the new program will be trying to monitor thousands of daily attacks on security systems around the United States. Additionally, the new command system has set off a race among criminals and rogue nations to develop better cyberweapons.
Much of the actual defense elements of the cyber-command will be handled by the National Security Agency, (NSA) which will have the role of intercepting domestic and international calls and email messages. That function was assigned to the NSA by the Bush Administration after the 9-11 Attacks. The NSA's role has generated an intense controversy concerning privacy and civil liberties.
Officials say there is no way to effectively conduct computer operations without entering networks inside the USA where the military is prohibited from operating Yet those networks are directly at risk and many, if not most are vital to national security. The government is simply in a legal quandary according to experts involved in cyber legalities.
