Obama Says Iran Has a
Right To Nuclear Power
On the eve of President Obama's Mideast trip to Saudi Arabia and Egypt, the President publicly flashed a hint of his views about Iran's nuclear program. The president stated that Iran has a right to develop nuclear power, of course for peaceful purposes.
The president's comments came in an interview with the BBC just before heading off to the Mideast where he would give his long-awaited Muslim speech to the Islamic world. In addition to the president's comments about Iran's nuclear program, the president reiterated his policy intentions to engage Iran in direct diplomacy and dialogue.
His diplomatic approach with Iran is geared to persuade Iran to set aside any amibitions for developing nuclear weapons. Iran's government though has already stated repeatedly and in no uncertain terms that it's nuclear program is not up for discussion or negotiations. As our A-O Intelligence Digest has reported in the past, the President is now convinced that nothing will stop the Iranian nuclear weapons program, not even military action. The new White House view is that even military action against Iran could only delay the inevitable development of nuclear weapons by Iran.
As our souroces inside the Washington beltway understand the new strategy, the President will continue to window dress the idea of diplomatic initiatives with Iran designed to negotiate an end to Iran's nuclear weapons program. In reality, the White House will do so only to placate Israel and Iran's Arab neighbors woh want Iran's nuclear weapons program halted one way or the other.

Obama Meets With Saudi King
President Obama met with Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah during the first leg the President's Mideast tour. The two leaders met briefly in public before conducting extensive talks behind closed doors. The two leaders discussed political developments in the Middle East including the growing menace of Iran and its nuclear program as well as joint efforts to establish a lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinian people. Oil prices also were part of discussions.
Our A-O Intelligence digest reported last weekend that the real reason for the visit to Riyahd was for a sales pitch to be made by the President to encourage the Saudis to bankroll some of the nearly $2 Trillion dollars in new US T-bills and T-bonds that are due to be auctioned later this month. It is a hush-hush subject that is receiving virtually no mention by the mainstream media Why the secrecy? If the Saudis choose to remain on the sidelines at this month's treasury acutions it would be a sign of failure by the President and would only add further concern about US deficits and add further pressure to the US dollar.
However, the dirty little secert amongs the Arab oil sheikhs is that the Arabs are almost as broke as everyone else, thanks to bad investments.

Lebanese Voters Shock Hezbollah
Hezbollah Fails To Win Election
Hezbollah was expecting an electoral victory that would have catapulted the terror group into control of the government for the very first time. Mideast analysts fear that a Hezbollah government would turn Lebanon into a second Iran. Yet in early election returns, tabulations indicate that Hezbollah failed to achieve a clear cut mandate. Instead, the western-backed politicians appear to have eaked out a small electoral victory and thus ensures that a power-sharing agreement with Hezbollah will have to be reached. There are concerns that Hezbollah's leaders will claim voting fraud and attempt to stage a military coup to seize control of the government by force, however initial public reaction by a Hezbollah spokesman indicated that Hezbollah accepts the election as a valid election. Russian President May Push
New World Currency
As the US Dollar slumps on international currency markets, a lot of talk is emerging out of Russia concerning about establishing a new global currency.
“There’s been a lot of talk out of Russia about a new global currency, and that’s contributing toward this latest bout of dollar weakness,” said Henrik Gullberg, a currency strategist in London at Deutsche Bank AG, the world’s largest currency trader. “These latest comments are just adding to the general dollar weakness we’ve seen recently.”
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev may discuss his proposal to create a new world currency when he meets counterparts from Brazil, India and China this month, Natalya Timakova, a spokeswoman for the president, told reporters by phone today. Russia’s proposals for the Group of 20 meeting in London in April included studying a supranational currency.
“We need some kind of universal means of payment, which could create the basis of a future international financial system,” Medvedev said in a June 1 interview with CNBC. “Naturally, because of the crisis in the American economy, attitude to the dollar has also changed.”
Regional reserve currencies are an “unavoidable” part of “regionalizing” the global financial system, Deputy Finance Minister Dmitry Pankin said in Moscow today. More details on the slumping dollar, LINK HERE.
