Dollar Hits New Lows
USA's Triple-A Rating In Danger
The US dollar continues to slide in value around the world on fears that US inflation would make investing in US debt a losing proposition. Concerns mount that America's Triple A (AAA) bond rating could be revalued.
All of this is based on concerns that excessive borrowing to finance deficits could trigger skyrocketing inflation that would make investing in US Treasury securities a losing proposition as payback would be made with dollars that would be worth far less in the future than the value of the dollar today. That means, foreigners fear that buying US Treasury Bills and Bonds could cost them money relative to their own nation's currency values.
The problem is exacerbated by increasing demands of the Obama Administration and Congress in their attempts to continue to bail out the economy with massive give-aways and buy-outs of banks and major corporations like GM and Chrysler. Nearly everybody else will drive smaller cars, and more of them will run on electricity. The higher mileage and emissions standards set by the Obama administration on Tuesday, which begin to take effect in 2012 and are to be achieved by 2016, will transform the American car and truck fleet.
