Editor's Note: Prophecy commentators have long held the opinion that Ezekiel's Magog prophecies of chapters 38 and 39 indicate that Magog and it's allies will be destroyed by a God-ordained earthquake in which the invading forces are crushed as they march through the mountain valleys of northern Israel and southern-central Lebanon. By virtue of the sudden earthquake activity in this region beginning last February and now a nearby 6.8 brings to light the possibility that this geological fault line is becoming active once again. Could these quakes be precursors to an even bigger earthquake that occurs to fulfill the Magog prophecies?
Keep in mind that Hezbollah, along with Iranian forces and a mix of foreign terrorist volunteers from diverse areas like Libya, the Sudan, as well as other Muslim nations including Turkey may be the Magog force prophesied in Scripture. As we post this news report, Israel is now on high alert expecting a Hezbollah and Lebanese Army attack against Israeli defenses along Israel's northern border. It is perhaps a theoretical possibility that conservative prophecy commentators have thoroughly misunderstood the Magog Prophecies and that the current situation may be the unfolding of those prophecies, although this is not something to be dogmatic about in either direction -- but it does mean we should be aware of such possibilities.

A powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake rattled mostly northern and central Israel early Tuesday morning, July 15. The quake epicenter however was located in the Eastern Mediterranean near the Greek island of Rhodes which is 275 miles southeast of Athens, Greece.
The Athens Geodynamic Institute measured the quake at 6.8 magnitude on the Richter scale, while the US Geological Survey rated the magnitude at 6.4 on the Richter scale. The quake depth was reported to be about 45 miles deep below ground. One death is being attributed to the quake but apparently only minor property damage has been reported so far. Greek officials are urging calm among its citizens.
On June 8, a similar quake struck the region rated at a 6.5 magnitude near the Greek port city of Patras. That quake damaged hundreds of buildings and injured more than 200 people.
Recently, Israeli Hospitals and emergency services in northern Israel were notified and asked to be prepared to deal with potential mass casualties from a major earthquake in northern Israel after some 500 precursor quakes had been reported in Lebanon and northern Israel.
