Iranian Missiles Posted
On Israel's N. Border
Iran has reportedly posted radar-guided missiles on the 7,800 foot Mount Sannine in southern Lebanon. Iran in conjunction with Hezbollah has a radar station with radar-guided missiles atop the mountain which overlooks northern Israel. The move poses a grave strategic advantage to Iran and Hezbollah in the event of an outbreak in military hostilities. The post is also capable of monitoring US Sixth Fleet activities along the eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
The deployment has taken place in the past two weeks and prompted Israel's defense minister, Ehud Barak to issue three separate warnings in a 48 hour period that Israel was closely watching developments along Israel's northern border region.
Mount Sannine overlooks and commands routes between Damascus, Syria and Beirut, Lebanon. It is one of the most important geographical points for military purposes in the region. By placing this post on the Mount, Iran has a strategic advantage and puts Israel at a strategic disadvantage should hostilities break out.
Analysts believe this development is part of Iran's preparations for war with Israel. Debka reports that its Lebanese sources say that Hezbollah, Syria and Iran are now ready for a new confrontation with Israel. Debka cites comments by IDF strategists as saying that if the current situation on the ground in Lebanon is allowed to remain, the next war Hezbollah launches with Syrian and Iranian help will put Israel at a grave strategic disadvantage. Mediterranean Union Summit Begins
French President Nicolas Sarkozy's dream of a union of Mediterranean nations may be about to blossom into a reality. Sarkozy is proposing the creation of a new union of Mediterranean nations much like the European Union, only the new group would include all nations bordering the Mediterranean Sea plus Jordan. Essentially it would be the revival of the initial Roman Empire, including European nations that were part of the old Roman empire. In other words, Sarkozy is attempting to restore much of the old, Holy Roman Empire.
Many Bible Prophecy interpreters believe that Daniel's vision found in 2:31-46 referse to "toes" that would reference the re-formation of the old Roman Empire. That empire included North Africa as well as Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Turkey. These nations are not part of the EU which until now, many prophecy experts believed might be the fulfillment of Daniel's vision of the toes. It is important to note that in the vision Daniel does not mention the number of toes. Most experts assume the reference to toes is the number, 10, which is the number of human toes on two feet.
That an effort is now underway to create a unity between nations that once composed the old Roman empire suggests the possibility that another peg in prophetic fulfillment is perhaps underway. Bush Prepared To OK Iran Strike!
A British newspaper, citing an anonymous senior Pentagon official, says that President Bush has told Israeli officials that he may be prepared to approve a future military strike on Iranian nuclear facilities if diplomacy fails.
The Sunday Times of London newspaper reports that Bush, despite opposition from Pentagon and other administration officials, has given Israeli officials an "amber light" to an Israeli strike plan against Iranian nuclear facilities with long-range bombing missions. According to the paper's Pentagon source, "Amber means get on with your preparations and stand by for immediate attack and tell us when you're ready." However, the President indicated that they can expect no help from American forces and will not be able to use US military bases in Iraq for logistical support.
From what the newspaper reports, the decision to launch strikes will be entirely up to Israel. The Pentagon source stated, "This administration will not attack Iran. This has been decided. But the president is really preoccupied with the nuclear threat against Israel and I know he doesn’t believe that anything but force will deter Iran.”
The news report also adds a caveat from its Pentagon source. To gain Bush's approval, Israel will have to present Bush with a sound, convincing military proposal. "If there is no solid plan, the amber will never turn to green" according to the Pentagon source.
The Times' report also notes that there is widespread opposition to any military action against Iran due to concerns about Iranian retaliation that could cause serious harm to US military assets in the region and serious economic harm to the world's economy. Another factor in the equation is the upcoming US Presidential election and the prospect of a Democratic President who is already on record as preferring continued diplomacy as opposed to military action.

Israeli Defense Minister Travels To US
For Consultations at Pentagon & W. House
Just days after Israel's top spymaster travelled to the US for consultations with US counterparts, Israel's Defense Minister Barak is travelling to Washington for three days of talks, slated to begin Monday, with his military counterparts and visit with Vice President Cheney. It is not clear as to whether he will meet with President Bush. The following week, Israel's top general will travel to Washington for more consultations. These meetings may well be preparatory to an Israeli attack on Iran or for launching military operations against Hamas, Hezbollah and perhaps Syria as well as Iran if Iran chooses to intervene. Significant Damage To China's Strategic Weapons
A high-level Chinese military source secretly disclosed last week that the recent earthquake in Sichuan Province caused a chain-reaction of explosions in the Sichuan mountain areas. The explosions destroyed Chinese army's largest armory, new weapon test bases and part of nuclear facilities including several nuclear warheads. This information is considered China's top military secret.
After the earthquake, Chinese authorities had ignored the disaster victim's initial calls for help. Only after the first critical 72 hours had passed did the authorities allow international aid to be delivered to the disaster region. Military analysts believe that this delay occurred because Mianyang City of Sichuan Province is one of important areas for the Chinese military nuclear industries and also its largest armory. The Chinese regime did not want potential spies from the outside world in this very sensitive military area during a time when there may have been a nuclear accident.

According to sources, a nuclear accident did happen. On June 27, the Chinese military disclosed that 2,700 chemical cleanup workers had been sent to earthquake disaster areas for nuclear chemical emergency rescue.

After carefully analyzing seismic data, military experts in southeast Asia confirmed a non-geological shock had occurred at the earthquake epicenter. The energy released was equivalent to that of an underground nuclear explosion.

The discrimination is "wrapped in the guise of a U.N. resolution called 'Combating Defamation of Religions,'" the announcement said. "We must put an immediate end to this most recent, dangerous attack on faith that attempts to criminalize Christianity."
