Dead Sea Stone Discovered

Confirms Suffering Messiah Concept
Underscores Reliability of Gospels
A stone containing ancient Hebrew writing about a suffering Messiah is turning heads in the world of Archaeology. The stone tablet was found several years ago near the location where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. The writing on the stone is in ink and not carved into the stone.
The stone tablet was sold on the black market to a collector in Switzerland who had no idea what to make of the stone tablet. Last year the owner showed it to a leading Hebrew hand writing specialist who recognized the text as dating to the first century before Christ. The handwriting expert dubbed it a, "Dead Sea Scroll on stone." Since then, the owner, realizing he had something profound has allowed various experts and scholars to examine the stone and conduct chemical testing. So far, everyone concurs that the stone is genuine, not a fake and pre-dates the era of Jesus Christ. It proves that the idea of a suffering Messiah was a Jewish concept and not made up later by Christians.
Much of the text appears to be an apocalyptic vision given by the archangel Gabriel and draws on the writings of the prophets, Daniel, Zechariah, and Haggai. One expert has dubbed the stone's textual message as "Gabriel's Revelation." It speaks of a suffering Messiah who dies and three days later lives again. This is found in line 80 of the text. Part of the text is faded out, barely visible and hard to see including the idea of death and living again.
Such a discovery is revolutionary in contemporary Jewish theology as most rabbis have believed the concept of a suffering Messiah who dies and resurrects three days later was an invention of Christianity and not something the Jews of the first century believed in. For this reason, the stone's discovery could turn modern Judaism on its head. There is much more scholarly work to be published on this stone and its message in the coming weeks and months ahead. No doubt we'll hear more of this discovery in future news articles. For more on this fascinating story, the International Herald Tribune has a 3 page article describing the stone and scholarly comments on the discovery. To read the article, LINK HERE.

Surplus US Food Supplies Vanishing
America used to be "home of the plenty" at least when it came to extra food supplies. Not any more. The US Government used to stockpile excess farm products, like grains, milk and chees. Much of the excess eventually found its way into supplying food to America's poor. Today, between giveaway programs and less food being produced, America's food pantry is almost bare.
Farmers no longer sell excess crop production to the US Government because any excess that they have is gobbled up on the open market at prices much higher than the government will pay. Food prices, worldwide have risen 45% in the past 9 months, far outstripping the ability of the US government to pay for extra food to be put into reserve. As a consequence, the US government's stockpiles of exrta food for rainiy-day crises has dwindled to next to nothing. For more details on this emerging problem, LINK HERE.
