The Coming of Signs in the Heavens

The Coming Signs in the Heavens

Biblical Prophecy tells us that there are certain "signs" in the heavens that will signal the arrival of "The Day of the Lord" and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. With that in mind, we are brought to mind of some upcoming celestial events that may well be the "signs" spoken of in Bible Prophecy.

Prophetic scripture in both the Old and New Testament seems to indicate that the Messiah, The Lord Jesus Christ returns to earth at the time of solar and lunar eclipses. For instance, Matthew chapter 24 seems to be describing solar and lunar eclipses just before the return of Christ.

See Matthew 24:29-31

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

"Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

"And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."

We also see a similar repetition in the account given by the Apostle Mark in chapter 13 verses 24-27.

“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;

"The stars of heaven will fall, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

"Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

"And then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven."

Finally in Luke's account of chapter 25, verses 25-28 we see the following:

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;

"men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

"Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

"Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

But those accounts from Jesus' Olivet Discourse are not the only accounts to consider. In Acts, chapter 2, verses 19-21.

"I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath. Blood and fire and vapor and smoke.

"The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.

"And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Of course, there's also the account from John's Revelation, chapter 6, verses 12-17

"I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood.

"And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind.

"Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.

"And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains,

"and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!

"For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

Let us not forget though some key Old Testament prophecies along similar lines of reasoning.

Isaiah, chapter 13, verse 10 tells us:

"For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not give their light; The sun will be darkened in its going forth, And the moon will not cause its light to shine."

Ezekiel, chapter 32 verse 37 tells  us:

"When I put out your light, I will cover the heavens, and make its stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, And the moon shall not give her light.

Finally, we see Joel 2, verses 30-32:

"And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.

"The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.

"And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said, Among the remnant whom the LORD calls."

As we consider these prophecies we are aware of 6 impending ecliptic events in the next 3 years.

According to calculations by NASA scientists, we are coming into a time of a rather unique set of ecliptic events, which for lack of a better term I'll refer to as Jewish Ecliptic Feasts. These will be both lunar and solar eclipses.

In 2014 we find the start of 4 consecutive total lunar eclipses. When there are 4 consecutive "total" lunar eclipses, they are referred to by scientists as a "tetrad." There will be 4 such total lunar eclipses starting in 2014 and extending into 2015. These are sometimes referred to as "Blood Red Moons." Below is a listing of these lunar eclipses for the tetrad.

Passover: April 15, 2014 - Total eclipse visible in Australia, Pacific, Americas

Tabernacles: October 8, 2014 - Total eclipse visible in Asia, Australia, Pacific, Americas

Passover: April 4, 2015 - Total eclipse visible in Asia, Australia, Pacific, Americas

Tabernacles: September 28, 2015 - Total eclipse visible in East Pacific, Americas, Europe, Africa, West Asia ( visible from Jerusalem at moon-set)

Two solar eclipses will coincide with Jewish Holidays in 2015. These 2 solar eclipses are:

Adar 29/Nisan 1 (Jewish New Year for Kings - Beginning of the religious calendar): March 20-21, 2015 Total eclipse visible in Iceland, Europe, North Africa, North Asia

Rosh Hashanah ( Feast of Trumpets) September 13, 2015 Partial eclipse visible in South Africa, South Indian, Antarctica

These 4 lunar and 2 solar eclipses will occur in the Jewish year of 5775. Many chronologists believe the Jewish calender is "off" by 240 years or so, but some believe it is off by just 224 years while others claim it is off by just 165 years. If the Jewish calendar is off by 224 or 225, then the year 2014 or 2015 would in reality be the year 6,000 and thus a super-milestone Hebrew Prophetic year, i.e. The Messianic Return of Jesus Christ? Perhaps but it might not be because we know it's the year 6,000 because we really don't know, but it would be interestingly ironic if it was the 6000th year

CONCLUSION:

As we approach and move into the year 2013, we should continue to see an escalation of prophetic-oriented geo-political events unfold, particularly in the Mideast and Europe. In the world of creation itself, we should expect to see more dramatic events such as earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes and tornadoes. In regards to tornadoes, expect them to show up more often in places that rarely have such a phenomenon, as in Europe, Asia and Africa. However, I am not saying that tornadoes will be as prevalent in those places as they are in "tornado alley" of the United States, but they I would expect there will be a pop up of such events.

As for geo-political events, look for a "sudden" economic event to unfold that triggers a collapse of the current monetary system, which in turn creates a new monetary system and a matching world government. Such an event seems highly likely in 2013 along with continued warfare in the Middle East.
