Thoughts on This Generation, Rosh Hashanah and the Rapture

 Thoughts On

This Generation, Rosh Hashanah

and

The Imminency of the Rapture of the Church

In case you were unaware of it, the calendar of events for September includes the Jewish event known as Rosh Hashanah, which some theorize to be the 2-day feast during which the Rapture of the church will take place.

This year, Rosh Hashanah is shown on our calendars to be celebrated on September 22nd after sundown and continue until sundown on the 24th.

Deborah Fenech, from www.promiseofhiscoming.com has permitted us to re-publish an article she has just published on her own website regarding Jewish calendar issues pertaining to "This Generation." In her article, (link) she describes what that term means in terms of length of time. In the course of the article, she notes that her research (and other chronologists) reveals that the Jewish calendar is off by 7.62 days from God's calendar. If this is so, and we think Deborah's reasoning is logically sound, then Rosh Hashanah, by God's calendar will not occur on September 22-24th but rather on September 14th-16th or 17th, depending on how one handles the fraction of a day.

Such a dating clarification means that perhaps, IF, this Rapture-dating theory is correct, then we could be just hours away from His Return for the Church.

Keep in mind, we're not, I repeat NOT, and let me repeat that again NOTTTTTT, setting a date here for the Rapture to occur, but instead, we're merely pointing out that the logic of such a theory would be pointing to these coming days, on whichever calendar God should choose to observe, might well be the time of His Return for the Church.

Of course, those who hold to this Rosh Hashanah Rapture theory do not put a year to it necessarily.
However, Deborah's article on the term "This Generation" and her postulating that the term refers to a 40 year period of time and that her further postulation that this 40 year period of time began on June 7th, 1967 (when Israel re-took all of Jerusalem) and will end by next spring, suggests that this year might be the year for the Rosh Hashanah theory to become the reality.

I personally find the evidentiary logic of the Rosh Hashanah Rapture theory to be compelling and worth consideration but not something to be dogmatically asserted as absolute doctrine, such as the doctrine of salvation being by Grace through Faith. Because of the compelling nature of the theory
and Deborah's information regarding the 40 year generation theory, I feel compelled asa watchman on the wall to make a note of these configurations and to keep them in mind in the course of the next two weeks.

It may well be that His Return is truly imminent and down to just hours or days away, if the Rosh Hashanah Rapture theory is indeed valid, and if indeed Deborah's theory is equally valid. However, it may be that the Rosh Hashanah theory is not valid and the Rapture may come between now and next June 7th. It may also be  that the 40 year countdown didn't start with June 7th 1967 but from another date that we're not aware of. If so, then the Rosh Hashanah theory could yet be validated in another year, if this is not the year.

I have always stated that we could still be 10 or 20 or 30 years or more away from the fulfillment of the next round of Biblical Prophecies. I admit we might even be 1,000 years away from fulfillment. I don't think so, because the evidence of our times suggests otherwise, but still, I have to make note that we could be wrong and that a balance is required in our understanding and reckoning of Biblical Prophecy.

Now, with having made those caveat statements, what should we conclude? We should be very watchful, particularly in the coming hours and days ahead for the possibilities that prophetic events are about to unfold at last in a direct way. These cited theories pose a window of time that encompasses us from now through next June 7th. If either or both of these theoretical postulations are correct, then the question becomes, "Are You Ready?" to meet your Saviour?

Are you relying upon Him totally for salvation by Grace through Faith alone and not by anything you can do to contribute to salvation? If you answer yes, then there is nothing to worry about and you and I can look forward eargerly to such a coming moment. IF, however, you're adding something to the salvation mix, such as your own efforts like prayer, good deeds, good attitude, church attendance or membership, or taking communion or being baptized by water or any other human effort, then my friend you have a problem to which I would encourage you to read our article on salvation and what is involved. Link.

This advice applies particularly to those readers who seem to think that keeping the Mosaic laws is part of the Salvation process. We know there are some readers at A-O who think this way, because we do hear from them by email from time to time, spewing forth a vitriolic animosity towards this website and denouncing us as heathen gentiles. We will not acquiesce to such taunts. We will maintain sound doctrine and will continue to present sound doctrine and the True Gospel of Jesus Christ as long as He chooses to allow this website to remain online and or until His Return for us.

As always, keep looking up and watching for His Return for the final element of our salvation draws near.
